To kick off this presentation, let me begin with a quick icebreaker.
Imagine you’re sitting in a brand-new Mercedes-Benz. How many of you know there’s an engine under the hood? Pretty much everyone, right? It’s obvious. We take it for granted.
Now let’s shift the scene. Suppose you want to paint a wall purple. How many of you know there’s such a thing as a spray gun? Again, probably most of you. It’s a tool designed to do the job better, faster, cleaner.
Next, consider this: how many of you are aware of the Panama Canal?
And how many know there’s a “send” button when you need to send a WhatsApp message?
What do all these examples have in common?
They illustrate something simple but powerful: we often rely on tools and technologies without thinking twice about the mechanics behind them. We know what the tool does, but we don’t always question whether we’re using the best tool—or using it well.
This presentation is about taking a second look at the obvious. It’s about challenging assumptions, and recognizing when we’re holding onto outdated methods or workflows just because they’re familiar – even though the tool we’re using has superseded the old methods.
